Common Questions About The Bayshore

Over the years we’ve fielded a lot of questions from buyers and owners about The Bayshore in Belmont Shore. Here are the ones that come up most often, answered honestly.

When was The Bayshore built, and how many condos are in the community?

The Bayshore was built in 1975 and is a small, tight-knit community of just 30 condos at 201 Bay Shore Avenue, right on the corner of 2nd Street and Bay Shore Avenue in Belmont Shore. That small scale is a big part of its appeal — it keeps the building intimate and the ownership community close.

What floor plans and sizes are available at The Bayshore?

The building includes one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts, ranging from roughly 865 square feet up to just under 1,200 square feet. In practice, the spacious two-bedroom, two-bath homes are what most often come to market here. Because owners have upgraded their homes over the years, no two units feel exactly alike, so it’s always worth touring a specific home to see how the space lives.

Do any units at The Bayshore come with a boat slip?

Yes — select homes at The Bayshore convey with a private boat slip. This is a genuinely rare and sought-after feature, since slip space around Alamitos Bay is in short supply and high demand. Boat slips are tied to specific units, so if that’s a priority, confirm whether a particular home includes one (and the exact terms) in the listing details and HOA documents. We’re happy to flag boat-slip homes for you on our Hot List.

Does The Bayshore have water views?

Many homes at The Bayshore enjoy unobstructed water views over Alamitos Bay and the marina, toward Naples Island — one of the most prized features you can find in a Long Beach condo. During the holidays, residents even get a front-row seat to the boat parade and the Trees in the Bay. View quality varies by unit height and orientation, so it’s worth seeing a specific home in person to judge the outlook for yourself.

Is there in-unit laundry at The Bayshore?

Yes. Homes at The Bayshore are set up for in-unit (stackable) washer and dryer use — a meaningful everyday convenience that many older beach-area buildings simply can’t offer.

What’s the parking situation?

The Bayshore offers secured, subterranean parking — a real advantage in Belmont Shore, where street parking near 2nd Street can be tough to come by. Some homes even include the rare luxury of side-by-side spaces. Parking assignments vary by home, so always confirm the exact spaces tied to a specific unit in the HOA documents and title report during escrow.

What amenities does the community offer?

Residents enjoy a community pool, spa, and a barbecue area for entertaining, along with private balconies to soak in the coastal weather and, in many homes, a cozy fireplace. The building is gated and secured, adding peace of mind in a prime waterfront location.

Is The Bayshore pet-friendly?

Belmont Shore as a whole is a famously dog-friendly neighborhood — Rosie’s Dog Beach is just around the corner. As with any HOA, The Bayshore may have its own rules on the number, size, or type of pets, and those can change over time, so confirm the current pet policy with property management before you buy.

How often do condos at The Bayshore come up for sale?

Rarely. With only 30 units, sometimes just one or two homes trade in a given year. If you’d love to live here, it really pays to watch closely — or to let us watch for you. Requesting our Hot List means you can get advance notice, often ahead of the major real estate apps.

Where exactly is The Bayshore, and what’s nearby?

The Bayshore sits at the corner of 2nd Street and Bay Shore Avenue, across from Naples Island and next to Alamitos Bay, about three blocks from the Belmont Shore beach and a short stroll over the bridge to Mother’s Beach. The shops, restaurants, and year-round events along 2nd Street — from Stroll & Savor to the annual holiday boat parade — are right at your doorstep. Explore more in our Belmont Shore condos guide.

What about HOA dues, and are the condos FHA or VA approved?

HOA dues at The Bayshore fund shared amenities like the pool and spa, the gated entrance, and common-area upkeep. Because dues, budgets, and condo financing approvals all change over time, we keep specific figures and approval statuses off this page to avoid sharing stale numbers. The most reliable approach is to verify the current dues and FHA/VA approval status for any home you’re considering — just ask us, and we’ll get you the latest. Our buyer guides also walk through condo financing, HOA fees, and what to look for.

Interested in Buying or Selling at The Bayshore?

Homes at The Bayshore are rare — with only 30 units, the best ones (especially those with a boat slip or a prime water view) are often gone before they ever reach the major search portals. Whether you’re hoping to buy here or thinking about selling your home, the smartest move is to work with someone who knows this building, the neighborhood, and exactly what makes each unit special. Get on our Hot List and be the first to know the moment a home becomes available.
